The masthead of the magazine is called TOTAL FILM, which is very plain yet bold making it stand out and easy to remember for the reader. As you can see from above, the model is covering the masthead suggesting its confidence and boldness of the magazine. The masthead of the magazine reflects its genre well because the title is very obvious and not making the audience think more about it. The masthead is orginally red however, in this magazine cover, they change the colour to white to make sure that the model stands out more than to any other text in the cover. The colour of the masthead would depend on what colour of the model is wearing to make the whole magazine reflect on its house style. In this case, the magazine's house style is red, white, yellow, blue and black emphasising the month of 'SUMMER'.
The main image of this cover is a long shot medium shot of one famous actress, which people may be engaged to buy this magazine particularly men. The coverline that is placed near the image supports the image well because of how the text overlaps with the image. 'RED HOT' supports the main image by making the colour red as well the same as the colour of her lips and her top. Her attitude and facial expression shows some kind of a hip hop attitude as if she doesn't care about how she poses because no matter what she still looks pretty and 'HOT'.
The coverlines on the left side of the cover is in red to show importancy that these are the topics that the reader should be looking out for, and also the images that are in boxes supports these coverlines to convince the reader to buy this magazine. As you may notice, the small images are behind the main image to show how important this actress is.
At the top right corner of the magazine may grab the readers attention because of the word 'FREE', which may convince them on buying this product. This subline also supports some poster images again, to force the reader to buy this magazine if they like to collect posters of their favourite film.
I feel that this poster follows the codes and conventions of a magazine because it contains a barcode, price, masthead, coverlines, sub headings, etc., which makes it ever easier to advertise this magazine to their target audience.
It is obvious that the target audience for this magazine is between young adults to elderly who are mostly interested in films. The use of formal language clearly attracts the target audience so that the age group is able to understand and relate to the magazine.
